Research shows 588 hotel rooms are needed in Maastricht
588 hotel rooms need to be added in Maastricht before 2031 if the city is to meet the need. This is according to research by consultancy agency Ginder.
There are already plans to build 246 new rooms, so space still needs to be found for 342 hotel rooms in the coming years. Should the Einstein Telescope be built in this region, it could create an additional need of another 138 rooms.
A total of 685,000 rooms were booked in Maastricht in 2022. Compared to 2019, when Covid-19 did not affect the number, this is a 5% drop.
