Refugee accommodation in Gouvernement adjacent buildings extended until next year
The crisis emergency shelter for asylum seekers in the LABgebouw annex near the Gouvernement buildings will be extended until 8 January next year.
The building where the offices of Provincie Limburg are situated has housed 40 refugees mainly from Syria and Eritrea under the coordination of Veiligheidsregio Zuid Limburg – VRZL (safety region Zuid-Limburg) since late July last year. VRZL asked the Provincie for an extension because of the pressure on resources for the national accommodations for refugees. The reception in the LABgebouw is the only location in Maastricht where the gemeente (municipality) does not play a role.
