New MVV artificial turf ready just before second home game
Maastricht's football club MVV Maastricht must find a solution only for the home match against FC Eindhoven on 18 August because of the rejected kunstgras (artificial turf). Work will start next Monday to lay a new pitch. As a result, the new pitch will be in place just before the second home game against Jong Ajax.
With the Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond – KNVB (royal Dutch football association), it will now be seen whether the home game against Eindhoven will be moved or whether MVV will play in another stadium.
Until the new artificial turf is in place, MVV will train on the pitches of Sportpark de Geusselt. Next Saturday's final practice match against FC Liege will be played at the stadium as usual.
According to MVV, it is still being considered who will pay for the costs of the new pitch, which is now in production: the owner of the stadium (Gemeente Maastricht) or the manufacturer. There is a 5-year guarantee on the current pitch, which is only 3 years old.
