Minister of Defense, Kajsa Ollongren visits Maastricht
On Wednesday, Minister Kajsa Ollongren gave a lecture on the importance of European cooperation in times of war at Muziekgieterij in Maastricht.
The minister visited Maastricht ahead of Europe Day, (9 May) during which freedom and cooperation in Europe are celebrated. The visit was organised by Studio Europa.
Ollongren mentioned that she feels European every day, but that she is also critical. She wants member states of the European Union to work more closely together when it comes to defense and safety. ''In the past, we did not think enough about our safety and were too reliant on the United States.'' she explained.
After the lecture, she also recorded a podcast with Professor Mathieu Segers and journalist Annette van Soest.
