Maastricht has the highest number of low-ranking energy labels in Limburg
Maastricht had 4783 social housing units with an energy label of E or lower in 2021. This represents a quarter of all social housing.
This is according to an analysis by the Ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken (Ministry of the Interior), carried out in cooperation with national public service broadcaster NOS. This makes our city by far the leader in the Province of Limburg with poorly insulated rental houses.
A total of 29% of the houses have label A or B, 44% C or D and the label of 2% is unknown. Nationally, it has been agreed that housing corporations will have upgraded all houses with a ranking of E or lower to at least label D by 2028.
