Gemeente boosts MECC with quarter of a million extra a year
The stadsbestuur (city council) is going to add €250,000 to the amount transferred annually to the Maastrichts Expositie en Congres Centrum (Maastricht exhibition and convention centre), the official convention centre for the Maastricht Region.
The intention is that the extra contribution will make it possible to attract more scientific conferences to the MECC. According to the city council, this is important because other industries also benefit from these conferences, such as hotels and restaurants.
With the increase, the annual municipal contribution to the MECC will be €535,000.
