City Deal project for tertiary students extended

The 'City Deal Kennis Maken Maastricht' project will be extended to Heerlen, Sittard-Geleen, Weert and Roermond.

Zuyd Hogeschool has been working on the project in Maastricht since 2019. Tertiary students work together with the municipality and various other parties such as housing associations and social organisations.

The project aims to get ideas developed on how residents can get more exercise and how the city could become cleaner, safer and more environmentally friendly. In Maastricht, for example, the students looked at how the Groene Loper could connect more with Randwyck. Not only could the city benefit from this, the programme also has another purpose: it introduces students to doing practice-oriented research in an inspiring way.

For the expansion, now called 'City Deal Kennismaken Limburg Univer©ity', a state subsidy of €500,000 has been granted. Participants also include Maastricht University, VISTA College and Porta Mosana College.
